About yaml :
YAML is previously known as “yet another markup language” but now its knowns as “yaml ain’t markup language”
Why is it not known as markup language? Why did the full form change?
A markup language is used to store documents But in YAML you can store object data along with document
It is not a programming language. It is a data format used to exchange data. It is similar to JSON, XML datatypes
It is a simple human-readable language that can be used to represent data. It is used to store some configuration information.
In yaml you can store only data and not commands.
Data Serialization:
Serialization is a process of converting the data object that is present in some complex data structure, into a stream of bytes(storage) that can be used to transfer this data on your physical device.
The object is the combination of code+data it is a data storage unit.
Deserialization: the reverse of data serialization is called deserialization
Data serialization language: YAML, JSON, XML.
Uses of YAML file?
Configuration —---> Dockers, Kubernetes etc.
Log, caches etc.
Benefit:
It is simple and easy to read.
It has a strict syntax
Easily convertible to JSON and XML files.
It is more powerful when representing complex data
Some points in YAML to note:
Yaml is case-sensitive → example apple != Apple
In yaml, we use space for indentation and not TABS
